Garleton Cottage Reviews
Had lovely relaxing stay at Garleton, so close to the sea, our dog buster was in every morning!!
Lovely village and the people here are so nice and friendly. Weather was a bit mixed but it didn’t stop us from getting out and about everyday exploring this beautfiul island.
We will definitely be back again – will book again for next year when we get home tomorrow!!
We enjoyed our visit, loved the house very cosy. Ideally situated can hear the waves gently coming in as I write. Weather was mixed, today was absolutely lovely, so warm. Hopefully it is a smooth crossing tomorrow.
A special thank-you to Rita who was so kind and helpful to us on our arrival. Sad to be leaving, miss the house already!
Wonderful to be back at Garleton as always, weather was lovely too.
Very many thanks.
Now on 4th year. Accomodation and location is ideal for our stay. We know the places we wish to visit and also best resturants and pubs.
Pity there is not a overall small freezer for convenience during our 3 week stay but hopefully be back next year.
Spent a lovely week in Orkney. Weather was mixed but it didn’t stop us one bit. Cottage was lovely and cozy, the kids loved it!
They are on the beach skipping stones as I write this. Sad to be going but hope to be back. Thank you.
Well worth the visit! Thank you!
Expecting to have to brave the elements we had a very pleasant week and got around by car and ferries.
We managed seven islands, what a joy!! Very friendly folk in Belle Vue, especially the lovely landlady and her family.
This holiday was a gift from my daughters to celebrate my 80th birthday.
Nearly got stuck in “tomb of the Eagles”, but survived to tell the tale!
Hoxa Tapestry Art Gallery is a must and for us, a trip to Pierowall on Westray was the highlight of the week.
Have enjoyed several stays here in the last few years after moving away from Orkney, I hope to have many more!Alice, Nicky & Simon
Wonderful to return to Garleton, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at weather beautiful. Hope to be back again before long!
Very many thanks.
Enjoyed staying in your cottage. On a wild night with a high tide it feels a bit like a boat with the waves lapping around you.
Met up with old friends on Hoxa Head. Had a lovely day on Hoy visiting Rackwick and the Lyness and Longhope Lifeboat Museums.
Bought a ring in Dounby to celebrate our 50thy wedding anniversary and saw our granddaughter recieve her degree in Archaeology in Kirkwall Cathedral.
What a great week!
We have really enjoyed our week on Orkney. The cottage is great, really comfortable and well equipped. Weather was variable. We visited the Highland Park Distillery when it was too wet for anything else. We did the main sights locally and on the mainland. We also managed a day on Hoy, the windy walk to The Old Man is highly recommended as is museum at Lyness. Sam the dog enjoyed the local beach and new smells. Beach at Scapa was good for doggy ball throwing.Seph, Geoff, Heather + Sam.
Wonderful holiday. Beautiful location. Cottage comfortable and cosy. Hope to return within the near future. Many thanks.Eddie & Christine.
Just a note to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Orkney and in the cottage. Orkney is really quite a special place and we managed to get round most of Mainland as well as South Ronaldsay and Hoy. The weather was kind and was especially good on the day of the wedding we attended with a spectacular sunset in the evening.
We loved staying in the cottage which was very comfortable and were sorry to leave. It was lovely to look out over the water in the evenings. There is rather a nice coffee house/bar in St Margarets Hope now called Robertsons which seems to be popular. I am so pleased we booked the cottage rather than taking a hotel room – it really made our holiday.Carol
Stunning location and enjoyed being in St Margarets Hope, Garleton Cottage suited all our needs.
Delighted that the cottage has wifi (good strong wifi). Mixed weather but did not stop us being out and about.
Agree about scrap car outside, needs to be removed.
Had a wonderful holiday. Lovely Cosy Cottage. Dog loved the beach walk every morning. Visited Skara Brae, the Standing Stones at Deerness, Maeshawe and “The Cairns” as our daughter was taking part in “the dig”. All amazing places – Oh and the Ness of Brgdar aswell. Orkadians very friendly and helpful. Recommend the ‘The Reel’ in Kirkwall for food and the Hoxa Tearoom up the road. The view is fantastic and the cakes to die for. Hope to return soon.Jackie & Gordon + Holly
Very warm and cosy in the Cottage. Loved the Italian Chapel, Scara Brae, Stanmding Stones and Ring of Bora. For evening meals recommend the bistro at tthe ‘Tomb of the Otters’ and Sands Hotel. The Hoxa Tea Room and Fossil Centre Tearoom are outstanding. Thrilled to see a seal near cottage.John & Rita + Teddy & Pip
